Julie Bates
FOOD SERVICE COORDINATOR
Having grown up at Discovery Ministries, Julie has played many roles at the camp over the years. She is the wife of the Director and the mother of 4 wonderful children! She spends much of her time overseeing River of Life Christian School in their home and helping to serve others in the community of Eminence. We are thankful to have her filling in for us in food service currently.
Jared Johnston
INSTRUCTOR/INTERN
Jared returns to our staff for a second year doing what he loves most...helping people embrace suffering! Just kidding! Jared brings a lot of energy, experience, and leadership to our intern team. It's pretty hard to embarrass Jared...we'd like to see you try!
Emma Bates
OFFICE ASSISTANT/INTERN
Emma is a delightful addition to our summer and part-time staff. Her diligence and willingness to serve through cleaning and being a utility player has been helpful. Having grown up at Discovery Ministries (she is the Director's daughter), she brings a unique perspective of the ministry that occurs. Currently, her skills and versatility have made her an asset to the front office processes. She is joining the instructor/intern team in 2023 to continue learning the craft of facilitation in her favorite setting...the wilderness!
Teddie Shumake |
INTERN
Teddie joins our staff with a lot of internship experience in neighborhood development. He enjoys working with people and understanding how organizations run. Originally from Quincy, IL, he is looking for the opportunity to grow and serve this summer before heading to college in the fall.
Bowen Lochman
INTERN
Bowen joins us from Quincy, IL and one of our partner churches Madison Park Christian Church! Having come to DM as a Middle School student with Madison Park, Bowen decided to join our team. A volleyball officianado, she plans to attend college in the fall.
Jonas Frescoln
INTERN
Jonas joins us from just down the road in Mountain View, MO. His family have been friends of Discovery Ministries for decades. An avid board gamer and programmer, Jonas joins our staff hoping to gain some experience in ministry and working with people.
